As old age approaches, one's key concerns turn to issues surrounding health, independence and increasing reliance on others. At the Home, we provide reassurance that such concerns need not inhibit one's quality of life.

We recognise that everyone is different, so we adapt our care to suit each persons' individual needs. We aim to create the right environment, which supports physical and mental well being, enabling our residents to maintain their rights, identity and independence as individuals whilst creating a spirit of trust and confidence in our professional standards. Registered nursing care is provided on a 24 hour basis.

Care is provided to residents with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Conditions of old age.
  • Palliative care including those over 50 years of age.
  • Dementia care.
  • Physical disability including those over 65 years of age.
  • Sensory Impairment including those over 65 years of age.
  • Mental disorder, excluding learning disability.
  • Terminally ill.

Potential residents are assessed by the nurse manager to ensure that we can meet all their health care needs. An individual care plan is developed for each resident in consultation with his or her family and is aimed at promoting health and independence as far as possible.

We provide care for people from all faiths and various communities, aiming to meet everyone's cultural, social and religious needs. We have a multi-national care team.

Friends and relatives are able to visit at any time, joining the residents for lunch, birthday parties and other special occasions. We have ample car parking in front of the Home.

The Home is well served by local transport, with Thames Ditton train station just a 10 minute walk away. Buses from Kingston, Esher and Guildford all stop by the main entrance of the Home.

Type of stay

Whilst most of our residents live permanently at our home, there are a regular number of returning guests who stay with us for shorter periods of days or weeks, for respite care.

Dedicated Staff

To help settlement into the Home, staff will get to know the resident personally and will support them and their family. Our objective is to make each resident feel involved in decision making about their life in the Home and to be a valued member of the community.

Staff are trained and dedicated and selected for their warmth and friendly personality. The team includes: nurses, trained care staff (most of whom have a vocational qualification), activities organiser, chefs, housekeeping, maintenance, training manager, the administrator to the trustees, nurse manager and secretarial team.

Registered nurses and caring staff provide 24-hour care.

Our Principles

At the heart of the Home of Compassion are some simple but fundamental principles of service. Our commitment is to enhance our residents' quality of life by:

  • Preserving dignity.
  • Nurturing the spirit.
  • Celebrating individuality.
  • Enabling freedom of choice.
  • Encouraging independence.
  • Involving family and friends.

These principles aren't just written and understood, they're lived by and worked to by all of us at the Home. In fact everyone has the same goal; to support and provide the best care and service that they can.
